All of the sudden my Macbook Pro late 2011 froze right before college. I tried restarting yet I came to a folder with an X on it during start up, I knew it was something related to the HDD. Now, I have an iPad which I utilized as a note taking device but I like my mac more. I searched once I got back and found out it is a common issue with the cables inside the machine. Just to be sure I pulled the HDD out and connected it to my actual computer, everything checked out. So I ordered the cable of off iFixIt and hopes for the best.

It went well, the part was correct, very nice actually, I was very glad. I opened the back of the laptop up, disconnected the battery, unscrewed the bracket holding the HDD, took out the cable as well as the second bracket assembly, replaced the cable, and then put everything back together.

Just make sure it is the cable and not the HDD itself, iFixIt got the rest.
