iFixit Show and Tell Contest
Calling all community members! We’d like to know more about our favorite people—you! Remember when we were kids and we got to brag about our rock collections, or talk for an hour about salamanders? We want to bring that childlike passion to the community, so gather your quirks and hobbies and get ready to share!
And to make it worth your while, we’re offering a chance to win an iFixit bundle—a Manta Driver Kit and some sweet iFixit swag.
We want to hear all about your fixes, skills, and expertise—but most importantly, why you care about repair.
Best place to brag about yourself? Right here on iFixit! Head over to your profile page (by hovering over your avatar on the top right corner of the site) and click on “View Profile.” You can also head to ifixit.com/user (it’s faster).

From your profile, click on the “Edit” button above your profile pic. Once there, you’ll see a quick snapshot of your profile preferences. You may be tempted to tell us about yourself in the “Summary” box—but, pump the brakes! The summary is better suited for a few short lines about your years of microsoldering experience or your favorite type of cheese. Think of it as the “TL;DR Elevator Pitch” box.
The big picture details go in the “About Me” tab. There, you’ll see the vast expanse of the text editor—now let loose! Add some fun and interesting details about yourself, and while you’re at it, consider adding an image. You know what they say: a picture is worth a thousand words, so feel free to give us a snapshot of who you are, or get creative with (now officially supported!) emoji. ??
- Your repair history—most difficult fix, repair related education, favorite iFixit guide (embed a link and share it!), something you’ve always wanted to get your hands on, or share a story about that time you met a repair hero.
- What makes you, you—share projects or accomplishments you’re particularly proud of, or tell us about any clubs or organizations you enjoy.
- What about the non-repair parts of you? Tell us about your other hobbies, or your pets, or introduce us to your favorite food—anything to show who you are outside of the fixing community.
Still searching for inspiration? Peruse some excellent profiles: Technical Writer Team Lead Arthur, Guide Community Manager Kris, Japanese Translator Midori, Moderator Dan, and EDU Alumni Betsabe.
Tell us—and the rest of the community—about anything that lights your spark. We want to know what makes you such an important part of the repair community—because you are! As a bonus, you might just get some really nice tools and swag—plus the opportunity to showcase yourself to the iFixit community and throughout social media! Use #iFixitShowAndTell when linking to your profile page on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram.
When you’re satisfied with your bio, let us know you’ve polished your profile for the contest. You can comment directly on this blog post so our team knows to get reading!
The deadline to submit your profile will be on September 18th, 2022 at midnight PST.
We will be picking out the top five most impressive profile pages every 2 weeks until then—that’s 30 winners! The winning profiles will be chosen based on effort, creativity, wow factor, and general gumption.
Note: While we would love to be able to send prizes to every corner of the planet, shipping restrictions prevent us from delivering to places unsupported by our US and EU warehouses. But don’t be afraid to send your profile our way, we’re more than happy to give you a shout out—bragging rights aren’t a cool toolkit, but they’ll help you promote your fixing super powers and connect you with the global repair community.
Happy Writing!

I don't know that mine is particularly impressive, but I'll throw my hat in the ring :)
Nathan Friedly - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
All up to date. Thinking about it for a few minutes made me realize I fix more things than I realized. I guess I'm cheap.
jj york - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
It doesn't mean your cheep!
it means your smart, resourceful and responsible!
:-)
HelloMacOS -
up to date. What's the ratio of merch to tools? @amber
wall03 - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
@wall03 It depends on if the winning bundle comes from the EU or US warehouses (our inventory is slightly different.)
I'd say about 1:4ish (if you count the Manta as one tool) OR 114:4ish (if you count each bit and driver as the full tool count.)
Amber Taus -
Yoloooooooo Imma send it. I'd love a manta driver kit to fix things like iMacs and appliances (My dishwasher is kinda broken atm) Note I am in Sydney Australia
Nick P - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Just updated mine. P.S. How do I make text after an image not wrap next to it and instead go below?
Devnol - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
@devnol, great question!
Our user profiles use Wiki Syntax. I'm not a syntax master, but I know a few things. As of right now, the best advice I can give you, is to type out
for as many lines as the image is tall or[clear]
after the image. The latter will make the following line of text super tiny (Great opportunity for an image caption!) but the next next line will be normal, and in it's own paragraph.I'll ask our developers if they have better advice on Monday and get back to you.
Amber Taus -
@amber I didn't get an email for your reply so I didn't see it until now but thanks, I tried the [clear] tag and it worked like a charm!

Wow, what a repair! This is a great story to tell on your user profile!

The Manta would be a perfect asset to anyone's repair kit. Profile ready.
Saul Martinez - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
looks like an awesome set to me that would make for hours and hours of “electronics play”! Learning with tools and becoming more familiar with electronics or something I really wanted. There’s an aircraft inspector and maintenance provider for a few decades I’ve always wanted to expand my electronics knowledge and capabilities and this kid would help do the trick.
bcbohls - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0

Ezi - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0

Roel Urbina - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
I work on a lot of stuff using Ifixit tools, computers, automotive and household items to name a few. I get great fulfillment in repairing broken parts and it helps to keep the money in the bank.
Scott Vance -
Awesome, let me know when it's ready!

Nothing impressive to mention, but being in the business of repairing printer over 30 years. In the near future preparing to add smart phone repairs.
Thomas Joseph - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
I have a history of fixing things. I worked as an industrial maintenance mechanic repairing electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and steam systems. I also worked as an assembler. So I also have a bit of a tool fetish in that I like tools, maybe too much. I even looking for an old axe. (Old ones were better made.) So good tools are right up there for me. Yes, I'll buy and use cheap tools but I won't enjoy it as much as I would using better tools. So If I win (very unlikely, I know) I'll have another reason to do more projects, for which I'll be grateful.
Jon Steedley - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Only unlikely if you don't edit your profile and enter. Follow the directions in the blog and edit your profile (it's rather empty right now.)

& done. Now, I wait to not win :)

Hi @cjc82, Looks like you're off to a good start! I'll give you (and anyone else who reads) this a clue: add some more! Get a photo in there and maybe some emoji! We want your fellow community members to get to know each other.
Take a look at some of the profiles listed in this blog post for inspiration.

Updated my profile, but noticed that much less space for text is available. :( Small price to pay for joining this raffle. =:)
David Spalding - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Hi @chromejob! After clicking "Edit", make sure you also click "About Me" to see the bigger text editor. You can write quite a bit! I think you may be looking at the summary area. ^_^
