  • Lift and remove the battery.

  • Before installing your new battery, remove all the old adhesive from the MacBook Pro's case.

  • With a little luck, you can slowly pull out each strip of adhesive with your fingers.

  • Otherwise, soak each strip of adhesive with a bit of adhesive remover for 2-3 minutes, and then scrape it out with a plastic tool. This can take quite a bit of work, so be patient.

  • Mop up any remaining adhesive remover and give your MacBook Pro a few minutes to air dry.

  • The replacement battery included in your iFixit kit comes with adhesive pre-installed. Test the battery's fit and alignment carefully before peeling off the film covering the adhesive, and then press each cell firmly into place. If any additional films/liners are present that weren't on your original battery, remove them now.

  • Calibrate your newly installed battery: charge it to 100%, and keep charging it for at least 2 more hours. Unplug and use it normally to drain the battery. When you see the low battery warning, save your work, and keep your laptop on until it goes to sleep due to low battery. Wait at least 5 hours, then charge your laptop uninterrupted to 100%.

  • If you notice any unusual behavior or problems after installing your new battery, you may need to reset your MacBook Pro's SMC.

Til de batterij op en verwijder deze.

Verwijder, voordat je je nieuwe batterij installeert, alle lijmresten van de behuizing van je MacBook Pro.

Met een beetje geluk kun je alle kleefstrips er met je vingers uittrekken.

Als dat niet lukt, kun je op iedere kleefstrips wat lijmverwijderaar aanbrengen en 2-3 minuten wachten. Vervolgens kun je het eruit schrapen met een plastic tool. Dit kan wat moeite kosten, dus wees geduldig.

Veeg overtollige lijmverwijderaar uit de behuizing weg en geef je MacBook Pro een aantal minuten om te drogen.

De vervangende batterij die in je iFixit-kit zit, bevat vooraf geïnstalleerde kleefstrips. Check of de batterij goed past voordat je de beschermfolie van de kleefstrips afhaalt. Als alles past, druk je de batterij stevig op z'n plek. Als er extra stukken folie op de batterij zitten die niet op je oude batterij aanwezig waren, verwijder je deze nu.

Kalibreer je vers geïnstalleerde batterij: laad deze op tot 100% en laat deze nog minstens twee uur doorladen. Gebruik je toestel vervolgens totdat deze zichzelf uitschakelt als gevolg van een lege batterij. Wacht minstens 5 uur en laad je batterij tot slot ononderbroken op tot 100%.

Als je onverwacht gedrag of problemen ervaart na het installeren van je nieuwe batterij, kan het zijn dat je de SMC van je MacBook Pro moet resetten.
