Methods to unstick the battery from the case

  • If any of the adhesive strips broke off and the battery remains stuck to the rear case, remove it by adding a few drops of isopropyl alcohol (90% or greater) underneath the battery near the stuck strip(s).

  • After about a minute, gently lift the battery.

  • Do not insert your spudger in the area between the volume down (-) button and the top edge of the battery, or you may damage the volume control cable lying underneath.

  • Do not pry against the logic board or you may damage the phone.

  • Don't try to forcefully lever the battery out. If needed, apply a few more drops of alcohol to further weaken the adhesive. Never deform or puncture the battery with your pry tool.

  • If the battery remains stuck to the rear case, prepare an iOpener or use a hair dryer to heat the rear case directly behind the battery. It should be slightly too warm to touch comfortably.

  • Overheating the iPhone may ignite the battery.

  • A piece of dental floss may be used to separate the battery from the rear case. A stronger alternative to dental floss is an unwound guitar string, such as a 0.009 E string from a 12-string set. Thread the floss or string behind the upper battery corners, bring the ends together, wrap them around a folded cloth, and pull evenly.

Methoden om de batterij uit de behuizing te verlossen

Als een van de kleefstrips onder de batterij is afgebroken en de batterij nog steeds vastzit, kun je wat isopropyl alcohol (>90%) onder de batterij, in de buurt van de kleefstrips, toedienen om de lijm te verzwakken.

Til de batterij, nadat de alcohol ongeveer een minuutje in heeft kunnen trekken, op voorzichtige wijze omhoog.

Steek je spudger niet in het gebied tussen de 'minder volume-knop' (-) en de bovenkant van de batterij, aangezien je daarmee de kabel van de volumeregeling eronder kunt beschadigen.

Wrik niet onder het logic board, aangezien je daarmee de telefoon serieus kunt beschadigen.

Probeer de batterij er niet geforceerd uit te wrikken. Indien nodig kun je ervoor kiezen om wat meer druppels isopropyl alcohol toe te dienen om de lijm te verzwakken. Zorg er te allen tijde voor dat je je batterij niet vervormt of doorboort met je wriktool.

Als je batterij aan de achterste behuizing blijft plakken en je weet deze niet los te krijgen, kun je een iOpener verwarmen of een föhn gebruiken om de achterste behuizing, direct achter de batterij, op te warmen. De behuizing moet zo warm zijn dat het net niet meer comfortabel is om aan te raken.

Het oververhitten van je toestel kan ertoe leiden dat je batterij in brand vliegt. Wees dus extra voorzichtig bij het verwarmen van je telefoon en volg de instructies van de iOpener nauwgezet.

Als alternatief kun je ook flosdraad gebruiken om de batterij van de achterste behuizing te scheiden. Een ander alternatief is een gitaarsnaar, zoals een 0.009 E-snaar van een 12-snarenset. Rijg de flosdraad of snaar achter de bovenste hoeken van de batterij, breng de eindes bij elkaar, wikkel deze om een stuk doek en trek onder de batterij door.
