Assemble! - Part 2

  • The various mounting posts inside the iMac were not suitable, so I purchased some PCB self-adhesive mounting posts (9.5mm) to mount the driver board, inverter and controller board.

  • To ensure the mounting posts were mounted correctly, I cut squares out of the EMI shielding before attaching the posts to the inner of the iMac casing. I also drilled holes for the power / adjustment board, so the buttons could be accessed from the rear of the machine.

  • From here it was a just a matter of attaching the boards to the PCB posts, hooking up the various cables and feeding through them through the former power in cut-out. I also insulated under the LCD driver board, as it was a bare circuit board. The inverter came contained within a clear plastic case.

  • As with the original setup, the LVDS cable and bottom inverter cables could only be attached with the screen in place.

Montiamolo! - Parte 2

Le prese per le viti all'interno dell'iMac non erano al posto giusto, quindi ho acquistato delle sedi autoadeive da circuito stampato per montare la scheda del driver, l'inverter e la scheda del controller.

Per accertare il montaggio corretto delle sedi per viti, ho ritagliato dei quadrati nella schermatura EMI prima di attaccare le sedi all'interno del case. Inoltre ho fatto dei fori con un trapano per la scheda con i tasti di accensione e regolazione per poterli usare facilmente dal retro del monitor.

Ora si tratta solo di collegare le varie schede tra loro con dei cavi e collegare i cavi per i segnali video e l'alimentazione e infilarli attraverso il foro che ospitava la presa per l'alimentazione. Ho anche isolato con del nastro la schermatura sotto alle varie componenti per evitare contatti. L'inverter era contenuto in un case di plastica.

Come nell'iMac originale, i cavi LVDS e quelli dell'inverter in basso possono essere collegati solo una volta aver appoggiato lo schermo alla scocca.
