Final Thoughts

  • Shift5.1 Repairability Score: 6 out of 10 (10 being the easiest to repair):

  • Cover and battery are easy to remove and can be swapped without using tools.

  • No excessive glue and no proprietary screws are used, only Phillips #000.

  • Shift offers a forum and a youtube channel with some information and tutorials (unfortunately only in German).

  • The fused display can be changed but you need to take out everything else reminding us of the iPhone 4 and 4s.

  • Lots of components and connectors are soldered to the motherboard. They could be soldered by hand if needed but this makes repairs more difficult.

Abschließende Gedanken

Das Shift5.1 erreicht auf der Reparierbarkeitsskala 6 von 10 Punkten (10 ist am einfachsten zu reparieren).

Rückabdeckung und Batterie können einfach entfernt werden und sind ohne Werkzeuge zu wechseln.

Kein übermäßiger Gebrauch von Klebstoff und keine proprietären Schrauben, lediglich Phillips #000.

Shift bietet ein Forum sowie einen Youtube-Kanal mit einigen Informationen und Anleitungen (bisher nur auf Deutsch).

Die kombinierte Displayeinheit kann gewechselt werden, erfordert aber die komplette Demontage, was uns an das iPhone 4 und 4s erinnert.

Viele Komponenten und Verbindungen sind auf das Motherboard gelötet. Diese können bei Bedarf von Hand gelötet werden, was jedoch die Reparatur deutlich erschwert.
