  • Full disclosure: Once we got inside the XPS, we sort of started cheating on our homework—by following Dell's service manual as a disassembly guide. What can we say, we love repair documentation.

  • So when we got to the bit instructing us to remove the system board to take out the fan, we were a bit confused, amused, and eventually miffed.

  • It looks to us like with some more detailed instructions, it would be pretty easy to skip removing the entire board and just pop up a corner. If only there were some sort of freely available repair documentation platform available on the internet.

Wir geben alles zu: Nachdem wir erst mal im XPS drin waren, haben wir angefangen zu schummeln indem wir Dells Servicehandbuch als Anleitung zum Zerlegen benutzt haben. Zugegebenermaßen mögen wir eine gute Reparaturdokumentation.

Als wir zu dem Teil kamen, in dem das System Board entfernt werden soll, um den Lüfter zu entfernen, waren wir ein bisschen verwirrt, dann amüsiert und hinterher etwas verärgert.

Unserer Ansicht nach, kann man mit etwas genaueren Instruktionen ganz einfach den Schritt mit dem Entfernen der Platine überspringen und nur eine Ecke ablösen. Ach gäbe es doch im Internet eine Art frei verfügbare Dokumentationsplattform für Reparaturen.
