  • Turn the logic board assembly over to access the heat sink's x-clamp.

  • To avoid ESD damage, be sure to lay your logic board on a soft, static free surface during service.

  • The logic board is very sensitive to impact and scratching. Be sure to not let the screwdriver slip and damage the logic board.

  • Starting at the front left corner of the x-clamp, insert a 1.5 mm flathead screwdriver between the heat sink's peg and the x-clamp's hook.

  • If you're worried about scratching the logic board, insert a spudger or thin screwdriver down through one of the holes in the x-clamp, in the gap just inside the screw post. Pry outward to release the x-clamp. Repeat for the opposite arm.
