CPU

  • The central processing unit (CPU) is a lot like the "brain" of a device. It handles all of the necessary calculations to run the operating system and all of your applications.

  • Although CPUs can vary greatly in size, it's generally fairly easy to identify them. Most devices have a heatsink (see previous step) keeping the CPU cool. Find the heatsink, and you'll generally find the CPU hiding underneath.

  • Be careful when removing CPUs, because they can be very delicate. Additionally, some CPUs (Apple's A7 for example) can't be removed because they are soldered into the motherboard. If a CPU doesn't come off easily, do NOT try to desolder it, as you might cause irreparable damage to it.

Processeur

Le processeur (unité centrale de traitement ou CPU en anglais) tient lieu de "cerveau" d'un appareil. Il gère les calculs nécessaires au fonctionnement du système d'exploitation et de toutes vos applications.

Bien que les processeurs varient extrêmement en taille, il est toujours très facile de les repérer. Il est recouvert par un dissipateur thermique dans la plupart des appareils. Trouvez ce-dernier, le premier risque fort de se cacher juste en dessous.

Faites attention quand vous démontez un processeur, car cette pièce peut être très fragile. De plus, certains processeurs (comme le modèle A7 d'Apple) ne s'enlèvent pas, car ils sont soudés à la carte mère. Si un processeur de se détache pas facilement, n'essayez PAS de le dessouder, vous risqueriez de l'endommager de façon irréversible.
