Measuring resistance

  • The next three steps will show you how to measure resistance with your multimeter.

  • To begin, make sure no current is running through the circuit or component you want to measure. Switch it off, unplug it from the wall, and remove any batteries.

  • Remember that you'll be measuring the resistance of the entire circuit. If you want to measure an individual component such as a resistor, measure it by itself—not with it soldered in place!

  • Plug the black probe into the COM port on your multimeter.

  • Plug the red probe into the port labeled with an Ω symbol (in this case, the right port).

Midiendo resistencia

Los siguientes tres pasos te mostrarán como medir resistencia con tu multímetro.

Para empezar, asegúrate que no haya corriente fluyendo en el circuito o componente que quieres medir. Apágalo, desconéctalo de la pared y retira las baterías.

Recuerda que estas midiendo la resistencia del circuito entero. Si quieres medir un componente individual como una resistencia, mídelo por su cuenta—¡no cuando este soldado!

Conecta la sonda negra en el puerto COM de tu multímetro.

Conecta la sonda roja en el puerto marcado con un símbolo Ω (en este caso, el puerto derecho).
