Mark the patch measurements

Use chalk or heat-erasable pen to mark the final patch dimensions found in the previous step onto the right (front) side of the patch fabric.
Be sure that the edges of the patch follow the grain directions of the patch fabric. The grain direction of the patch should match the grain direction of the garment for the best appearance and performance.
In the pictured repair, the patch fabric has a diagonal print pattern in relation to the fabric grain.
