Tooth type

  • There are two main tooth types: coil and plastic tooth (also called Vislon®).

  • Coil zippers have teeth that are part of a continuous nylon coil that sits at the edge of the zipper tape.

  • Plastic tooth (Vislon®) zippers have individual teeth made of plastic that are clamped onto the edge of the zipper tape.

  • The slider is often marked on the backside with a C for coil and V for plastic tooth (Vislon®).

Art der Zähne oder Krampen

Grundsätzlich unterscheidet man Spiral- und Profilreißverschlüsse. Die Patagonia Vislon® sind Profilreißverschlüsse.

Spiralreißverschlüsse haben Zähne, die Teile einer durchgehenden Nylon-Spule sind, die an der Kante des Reißverschlussbandes sitzt.

Profilreißverschlüsse wie unsere Vislon® haben einzelne Zähne aus Kunststoff, die an der Kante des Reißverschlussbandes festgeklemmt werden.

Bei Patagonia ist der Schlitten auf der Rückseite oft mit einem C für Spiral und V für Profil (Vislon®) gekennzeichnet.
