SKILL: Fastening zippers by hand

  • Application - Many repair techniques require split zippers to be refastened before the fix is applied. To achieve this, the zipping function of slider can be mimicked by hand.

  • Skill - Begin where the zipper teeth first start to split and use your fingers to manipulate the teeth back together (reference the video in Step 10).

  • Use a safety pin through the tape to capture progress and to keep the zipper from re-separating (reference image #2).

  • A FixnZip is a handy tool that can also be used to fasten a section of zipper back together (reference image #3).

Vaardigheid: ritssluiting met de hand sluiten

Sommige reparatietechnieken vereisen dat de rits is gesloten om de reparatie uit te kunnen voeren. Om de rits te sluiten zonder sluiter, zul je je handen moeten gebruiken.

Begin waar de tanden van de rits nog niet in elkaar vastgrijpen en gebruik je vingers om de tanden in elkaar te duwen (bekijk de video in stap 10).

Je kunt een veiligheidsspeld door de ritsband heen steken om te voorkomen dat de rits opnieuw opent en zo je vooruitgang te behouden (zie afbeelding 2).

De FixnZip is ook een handige tool om een rits weer te sluiten.
