TECHNIQUE: Replacing a pocket slider - Sacrificial teeth

  • Issue - A pocket zipper is missing a slider, or has a stuck slider, and there's no tooth or tape damage.

  • Technique - Remove a small number of teeth from the base of the zipper to create space to retrack a new slider.

  • If the slider remains, break it off.

  • Remove teeth from both sides at the base of the zipper. Take only as many teeth are necessary to retrack the new slider. Singe any fraying.

  • Put on a new slider where the teeth were removed, catching both sides of the zipper, and slide it up.

  • Use a top stop or a hand stitch to lock off the bottom of the zipper.

  • This technique is the quick fix alternative to a Sewn Zipper Slider Replacement, where the stitching is opened at the base of the pocket to retrack a new slider.

TECNICA: Sostituzione del cursore di una tasca - Denti sacrificabili

Problema: una cerniera della tasca è priva di cursore o ha un cursore bloccato, ma non ci sono danni ai denti o al nastro.

Tecnica: rimuovi un piccolo numero di denti dalla base della cerniera per creare spazio e poter riposizionare un nuovo cursore.

Se il cursore è ancora presente, rompi il cursore.

Rimuovi i denti da entrambi i lati alla base della cerniera. Rimuovi solo il numero di denti necessario per riposizionare il nuovo cursore. Brucia qualsiasi parte sfilacciata.

Metti un nuovo cursore dove i denti sono stati rimossi, agganciando entrambi i lati della cerniera, e fai scorrere il cursore verso l'alto.

Usa un fermo superiore o un punto a mano per bloccare la parte inferiore della cerniera.

Questa tecnica è una soluzione rapida alternativa alla Sostituzione del cursore con cucitura, in cui si apre la cucitura alla base della tasca per riposizionare un nuovo cursore.
