How to use the Non-Contact Voltage detector

  • The Non-Contact Voltage (NCV) function allows you to sense AC power in a circuit or wire without having to electrically connect to it.

  • The NCV sensor sits inside the plastic nub at the top of the iFixit multimeter. The metal strip inside acts as an "antenna" that detects the electromagnetic field generated by an AC source. This field gets stronger the closer it is to the source.

  • The NCV won't detect whether there's DC power in a circuit or wire.

  • The NCV may not always detect a live circuit or wire. For safety reasons, never rely on the NCV as your sole point of information if you're working above 20V AC.

  • The iFixit multimeter's NCV function detects ~45V AC and above.

  • To use the NCV function, turn the function dial to the NCV mode.

Cómo utilizar el detector de voltaje sin contacto

La función de voltaje sin contacto (NCV) te permite detectar energía de CA en un circuito o cable sin tener que conectarse eléctricamente.

El sensor NCV se encuentra dentro de la protuberancia de plástico en la parte superior del multímetro iFixit. La tira metálica del interior actúa como una "antena" que detecta el campo electromagnético generado por una fuente de CA. Este campo se vuelve más fuerte cuanto más cerca está de la fuente.

El NCV no detectará si hay alimentación de CC en un circuito o cable.

Es posible que el NCV no siempre detecte un circuito o cable con corriente. Por razones de seguridad, nunca confíes en el NCV como tu único punto de información si estás trabajando por encima de 20 VCA.

La función NCV del multímetro iFixit detecta ~45 VCA y más.

Para utilizar la función NCV, gira el dial de función al modo NCV.
