How to measure high current (amp scale)

  • The next two steps show how to measure high (600mA-10A) current.

  • The iFixit multimeter's high current (10A) port fuse is soldered to the multimeter's motherboard. If you suspect the current measurement is higher than 10A, don't use the multimeter to make the measurement. Instead, use a higher rated current meter or a clamp meter.

  • Measuring amp-level current can be dangerous even at low voltage (12V) levels! Follow these precautions:

  • Be very aware of what the probes are touching and make sure they don't accidentally touch anything conductive.

  • Be careful not to touch any exposed circuitry. If there's a significant chance of exposure, cover the live circuit with insulating material or wear protective equipment such as insulating gloves.

  • Plug the black lead into the COM port. Plug the red lead into the A port (the left port on the iFixit multimeter).

  • Turn the function dial to the amp A mode. If you're measuring Alternating Current (AC), press the blue select button to switch to AC mode.

Come misurare correnti elevate (scala ampere)

Il fusibile della porta per corrente elevata (10A) del multimetro iFixit è saldato sulla scheda madre del multimetro. Se sospetti che la misurazione della corrente sia superiore a 10A, non utilizzare il multimetro per eseguire la misurazione. Invece, usa un misuratore di corrente con una valutazione più alta o un pinza amperometrica.

Misurare corrente a livello di ampere può essere pericoloso anche con tensioni basse (12V)! Segui queste precauzioni:

Fai molta attenzione a cosa toccano le sonde e assicurati che non tocchino accidentalmente nulla di conduttivo.

Fai attenzione a non toccare circuiti esposti. Se c'è una possibilità significativa di esposizione, copri il circuito sotto tensione con materiale isolante o indossa dispositivi di protezione come guanti isolanti.

Inserisci il cavo nero nella porta COM. Inserisci il cavo rosso nella porta A (la porta di sinistra sul multimetro iFixit).

Ruota il selettore della funzione sulla modalità ampere A. Se stai misurando la Corrente Alternata (AC), premi il pulsante blu di selezione per passare alla modalità AC.
