Lift the right half of the battery

Grab and lift the right pull-tab to remove the first half of the battery from its recess.
Don't try to remove the battery all the way yet. The left half is still adhered to the midframe.
If you're having trouble lifting the battery out of its recess, apply a heated iOpener to the screen for two minutes to loosen the battery adhesive.
A hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate may also be used, but be careful not to overheat the device.
Only apply heat to the screen to prevent the battery from overheating.
