Press one of the sides of the wheel against a hard, flat surface. The axle should push out. Use a screwdriver to push the axle the rest of the way out. You then should be able to see the rest of the debris.

Once all debris has been removed from the axle, apply a drop of sewing machine or Vaseline oil to the hole in the center of the wheel and reinsert the axle; apply a second drop of oil once the axle is installed.

Before reinstalling the wheel, clean the hole where it goes, and apply a drop of oil on each side where the axle is inserted and snaps into place. Wipe away any excess oil.

Reinstall the wheel by lining up the axle with the two detents on each side. Apply some pressure, and the wheel should snap into place. Make sure the wheel rotates freely.
