Remove the rubber zoom grip from the lens.
Peel off the dust shield.
The dust shield is a flexible black piece of plastic that looks similar to electrical tape.
Unscrew the one screw underneath the dust shield and remove the zoom brush (the piece of metal the screw holds in place).
The zoom brush is comprised of ten fragile pins. Please use caution while handling this part, as damage to its pins may result in losing function of the autofocus on the lens.
