Final Thoughts

  • The Playdate earns a 6 out of 10 on our repairability scale (10 is the easiest to repair):

  • A big flathead screwdriver and an opening pick will get you inside.

  • You can twirl away all the internal (Pozidriv) screws with a basic Phillips driver.

  • The battery is immediately accessible and only lightly adhered in place.

  • The headphone jack is completely modular, and the crank design is simple and serviceable.

  • You can swap the display, but only if you replace the entire front case.

  • All of the controls are aggregated onto a single FPC—easy to swap, but a bit wasteful if only one thing breaks.

  • The USB-C port is soldered to the main board.

La Playdate gagne un 6 sur 10 sur notre échelle de réparabilité (10 étant le plus facile à réparer) :

Un gros tournevis plat et un médiator suffisent pour vous frayer un chemin à l'intérieur.

Toutes les vis (Pozidriv) intérieures se dévissent avec un tournevis cruciformes basique.

On accède immédiatement à la batterie qui est seulement légèrement collée en place.

La prise jack est entièrement modulaire et le design de la manivelle est simple et accessible.

On peut changer l'écran, mais seulement en remplaçant tout le bloc frontal.

Toutes les commandes sont regroupées sur un seul circuit imprimé flexible – facile à remplacer, mais c'est un peu du gâchis si un seul truc se casse.

Le port USB-C est soudé à la carte mère.
