  • Let's see if a quick exterior inspection helps decide.

  • The box may look familiar, but the new remote looks ... also pretty familiar, actually. It recalls the remote design from the 3rd-gen Apple TV, way back in 2012.

  • That's not a bad thing. New Apple products often set trends, but one thing that nobody hurried to copy was the frustrating Siri Remote design that shipped with Apple TVs starting in 2015.

  • That's okay, Apple—be a goldfish.

  • Both gizmos have their own Apple model number, namely: A2169 for the black box, and A2540 for the silver stick.

  • If you were wondering about a hidden service port inside the Ethernet jack, we have to disappoint you. The Apple TV 4K only carries power, HDMI, and Ethernet ports. (The front also sports an infrared sensor peeking through the plastic, which we’ll find later).

Une inspection extérieure nous aidera-t-elle à décider ?

La boîte a un air familier, mais la nouvelle télécommande… aussi en fait. Elle rappelle le design de la télécommande de l'Apple TV de 3e génération de l'année 2012.

Ce n'est pas une mauvaise chose. Les nouveaux produits Apple lancent souvent des modes, mais personne ne s'est pressé de copier le design décevant de la télécommande Siri Remote livrée avec l'Apple TV depuis 2015.

C'est bien, Apple a compris la leçon.

Les deux gadgets ont chacun leur propre numéro de modèle Apple, soit : A2169 pour la boîte noire et A2540 pour le bâton argenté.

Si vous cherchez un port d'entretien caché dans la prise Ethernet, nous allons vous décevoir. L'Apple TV 4K comprend seulement les ports de charge, HDMI et Ethernet. (La partie frontale inclut également un capteur infrarouge qui épie à travers le plastique, comme nous allons le découvrir plus tard.)
