  • Our friendship test is nearly finished, but let's fish out the final remaining components.

  • First on the hook is a second speaker along the top edge of the phone, doing double duty as both an earpiece speaker and a second loudspeaker for stereo sound in landscape mode.

  • This is not just an acoustical win, but also one for repairability! The structure-borne speaker driver we found in the Mate 30 Pro complicated display replacements. Nice to see that Huawei decided to omit this fancy (annoying) tech in the Mate 40 Pro.

  • The second catch is the tiny linear actuator vibration motor. Since we've still got all these iPhones laying around, here's a comparison:

  • The Mate 40 Pro's motor measures in at a puny 9.28 mm x 9.28 mm x 3.3 mm, making it just about half the size of the already-minuscule Taptic Engine from the iPhone 12 mini.

  • The last components in the net are a proximity sensor, a power and volume button cable, and one last interconnect cable.

Il nostro amichevole test è quasi concluso, quindi ripeschiamo gli ultimi componenti rimasti.

Il primo ad abboccare è il secondo altoparlante lungo il bordo superiore del telefono, che ha la doppia funzione di altoparlante voce e di secondo speaker stereo quando lo smartphone è orizzontale.

Non è una vittoria solo dal punto di vista acustico ma anche in termini di riparabilità! Il driver dell'altoparlante integrato nella struttura che avevamo trovato nel Mate 30 Pro complicava la sostituzione dello schermo. Bello vedere che Huawei ha omesso questa fantastica (e fastidiosa) tecnologia nel Mate 40 Pro.

Seconda cattura di giornata, il piccolo motore di vibrazione ad attuatore lineare. Dato che abbiamo ancora gli iPhone in circolazione, ecco un confronto:

Le misere misure del motore del Mate 40 Pro sono di 9,28 x 9,28 x 3,3 mm, circa la metà delle dimensioni del pur minuscolo Taptic Engine dell'iPhone 12 mini.

Gli ultimi componenti finiti nella rete sono un sensore di prossimità, un cavo dei pulsanti di accensione e del volume e un ultimo cavo di interconnessione.
