Lay the upper case on top of the upper portion of the motherboard.

Use your fingernail or the flat end of a spudger to flip up the retaining flap on the TouchPad cable ZIF socket.

Be sure you are prying up on the retaining flap, not the socket itself.

Pull the TouchPad ribbon cable out of its socket.

Remove the upper case from the HP Mini 1000.
