Check to see if there is a large piece of metal tape over the battery. This is the heat sink. Its purpose is to disburse the heat away from the battery and hard drive, cooling the tablet and keeping it from overheating.

If the piece of tape is not there, and the tablet will not turn on, the tablet most likely shorted out.
