Make sure you have your antistatic wristband on and avoid touching the gold pins on the bottom of the CPU. CPUs are very fragile, and can be destroyed by small static shocks.

Carefully lift up the CPU to remove. Lifting the CPU should require almost no force.

When reinserting a CPU, orientate it so that the labels are in line with the label on the ram bay. The CPU should drop right in without using any force. DO NOT force the CPU into the socket. If it does not fit, simply try turning it ninety degrees until it drops into place.
