Now, carefully use your spudger or small flathead to, very gently, pry up the key mechanism, being careful not to damage it.

You should now clean the key using a Q-tip, and taking the key and mechanism and put it in water and dry it out. It's not too hard to put the mechanism back together again. Or use a can of compressed air.
