Any exposed stitch on a garment runs the risk of becoming snagged. Snags are most often caused by the stitch catching on something sharp and being pulled.

A standard machine straight stitch is comprised of a top and bottom thread. A snag occurs when the top thread gets pulled through the bottom thread, bunching the fabric. This excess of thread creates the loop.

As long as the thread wasn't cut, this guide will show how to release this loop back into the stitch.
