The first photo shows a refrigerator with a water filter plug installed. If your refrigerator looks like this it does not yet have a water filter installed.

You may choose to shut off the water supply to the refrigerator before loosening the filter cartridge or plug. This provides extra protection against leakage while removing the filter.

To release your water filter, rotate it one-quarter turn counterclockwise.
