Remove the defective bulb.

If the bulb does not come free, use a flathead screwdriver to press against the plastic base of the bulb and leverage it out of the socket.

Do not press the screwdriver against the bulb itself. This may cause it to shatter.

Once the bulb has been removed, be sure to place it in a safe area where there is no risk of it breaking.

To dispose of the defective bulb, wrap it in a secondary layer of disposable packaging (such as paper towels within a plastic bag) before throwing it away.
