Remove the battery.

Do not reuse the battery after it has been removed, as doing so is a potential safety hazard. Replace it with a new battery.

During reassembly, you may use the old battery adhesive with your new battery. Alternatively, you may clean any old adhesive residue from the battery compartment using high-concentration isopropyl alcohol and install new adhesive from a follow pre-cut adhesive sheet.
