Approach this step with the process of unbuttoning a shirt in mind.

Be careful if the rubber gasket is dry-rotted. Use vaseline to re-moisturize if necessary. Manipulating dry-rotted rubber will result in tearing.

Pinch the bottom of the rubber gasket at the left side of the assembly and remove it from the plastic "buttons" on the headlight assembly.
