[title] Photo editing options
[* black] ***Affinity Photo V2:*** My preferred choice due to better high-end printer support. It includes many tools found in CS which are removed or “dumbed down” in Photoshop Elements. This is a one-time purchase and NOT a subscription. ***However, major upgrades are paid. NOTE: If you own V1, it is no longer sold.***
[* black] ***Luminar Neo:*** This application is paid and available for Mac and PC. It is a one-time purchase or subscription (purchase is just the program, subscription comes with add-ons regularly).
[* black] ***Photoshop Elements: For most people, this will be sufficient. However there is a print-specific limitation: PSE only supports RGB color spaces (limited HDR/HiDPI support; RGB/8, RGB/16 with data loss, JPG only RGB/32). While it will work for most people, the color space limitations may be an issue. CC and legacy CS do not have this issue.***
-[* black] ***DXO PhotoLab 6 (shoutout to @sedorr):*** This program is similar to Lightroom in many ways before Adobe discontinued non-SaaS Lightroom. This is a one-time purchase and not subscription-based. ***However it is $219/3-seat license and is not cheap. I used the trial for this guide.***
- [* black] ***Free tools (Mac): There are not as many free tools available for Mac. However, Darktable (Gatekeeper bypass required) and GIMP are free and are available on Mac. If neither of these works, there are many free apps in the App Store, but watch for subscriptions. NOTE: Most Mac editing software is paid or tries to rope you into a subscription.***

+ [* icon_caution] ***Most Mac editing software is feature limited, paid or tries to rope you into a subscription.***
[* black] ***Free tools (Windows): For Windows users, there are significantly more more free tools available; you do not need to pay or look in the App Store. For example paint.net is Windows only. GIMP and Darktable are also available for Windows and Mac.***
