Introduction
If your Acer monitor is acting up, you probably have a case of bad or failing capacitors. Here are some signs of bad capacitors
* Power issues
* No power
* Video issues(stability, doesn't stay on when plugged into a computer, resolution, random image dropping, etc.)
* auto adjustment issues
* Power light flickers slightly
* Random problems
* it has to be unplugged from the wall frequently
* Transformer hum*
* Inverter hum*
*If you have any of these problems, replace all the caps no matter the condition of the other caps. I found 2 that didn't look bad blew from the bottom causing this problem where the top didn't bulge, but the bottom did. You'll kill these problems right away if you do a full recap with the following issues. Even if your issue is likely not going to require a full recap, it's still a good idea to replace all the capacitors in one shot.
This one is having automatic adjustment issues, power issues when hooked up to a computer and transformer hum problems. I already took this apart to check the capacitors, so it will be easier then one that was never opened before. '''Expect a lot of trouble if you have never opened your AL2216W before. I got this monitor free because of this, and after a full recap, I got a new monitor for 7.00 in caps, 6.00 in additional supplies coming up to 13.00 in capsthe repair. This was also my first recap I did on something I wanted to recover, and went in with zero experience doing capacitor recaps correctly-I screwed up ALL ATTEMPTS at practice before fixing this monitor. If you're afraid to try this, it isn't bad. This was the first time I did it and I didn't ruin the monitor and managed a successful repair. The only way you're gonna learn how to repair on the component level is if you take risks. I labeled it "difficult" due to the fact you have to handle a bare power supply. As of late, I have been having trouble finding the original capacitors I originally used to repair this monitor when I attempted to build a proper part list. As a result of this, I doubled the value of the capacitors further in the Parts section then I originally did when I fixed this monitor 7 months ago. I also did this because I feel Acer skimped on the capacitor ratings from the factory.
