Introduction
If your laptop crashes because of overheating it is most likely that your fan is faulty and needs to be replaced. Additionally, if your laptop is running hotter and noisier than normal it might be beneficial to consider replacement. To decide if you need to replace the fan or just clean it using compressed air place your hand over the fan and check for airflow. If you cannot feel air from your fan after cleaning, anything replace the fan using this guide. Make sure to replace the fan with a carbon CPU cooling fan, or preferably Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga 2nd Generation’s own fan part. This guide doesis not include anyparticularly difficult steps, but take care when removing parts such as the ribbon cable to avoid damage.
