If your ZTE Tempo smartphone (model 9131) produces distorted, intermittent, or no sound through headphones or external speakers, this guide will help you replace the headphone port (also known as the audio jack).
The headphone port transmits sound to external devices through an auxiliary cord. A damaged port may result in unclear or missing audio output
Before replacing the port, check for dust or debris inside it. Use an ESD-safe brush or small dust blower to clean it. Also test multiple headphones and aux cords to confirm the issue comes from the port itself.
In Step 5, you’ll remove the circuit board to desolder the faulty headphone jack and solder a new one in place.
Before beginning, make sure to power off your phone completely and disconnect from any external power source.
