Use this guide to disassemble the upper ice maker assembly to replace the upper ice maker on your LG model LFX25973 refrigerator.
This ice maker provides ice for the through-door dispenser. If it fails, ice will not be available to dispense.
The assembly has both the ice maker and the auger motor. If the ice maker alone fails, you can replace it on the assembly.

Unplug your refrigerator before you begin your repair.

Open both refrigerator doors fully.

Pull down the latch handle to release the ice maker door.

Swing open the ice maker door.
-

Using two hands, lift up the ice bucket slightly to release it.

Pull the bottom edge of the ice bucket toward you slightly and remove it.

Use a #2 Philips driver to remove the three 15 mm‑long screws that secure the ice maker assembly to the refrigerator door.

Use a spudger to lift the bottom edge of the ice maker assembly. This action will release the assembly from the refrigerator door.

Pull the bottom edge of the ice maker assembly toward you to free it from the door.

Lower the ice maker assembly until you can access the connector located at the top of the assembly.

Squeeze the connector at the top of the ice maker assembly to release it.
-
Pull the connector straight down to disconnect it.
-

Remove the ice maker assembly.
-

Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the 14.4 mm‑long air duct screw from the side of the ice maker assembly.

Remove the air duct.
-
-
-
Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the two 32.5 mm‑long screws securing the circuit board cover.
-

-
Open the circuit board cover.
-
-
-
Squeeze the three-wire connector to release it from the circuit board.
-
Pull the three-wire connector straight out to disconnect it.
-
-
-
Squeeze the multi-wire connector with the two orange wires running to the on/off switch.
-
Pull the connector straight out to disconnect it.
-
-
-
Use long nose pliers to pull the two spade connectors straight off the on-off switch terminals.
-

-
Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the three 16.5 mm‑long screws securing the ice maker to the back plate.
-
-
-
Lift the ice maker off the back plate and remove it.
-
To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
Take your e-waste to an R2 or e-Stewards certified recycler.
