Hi, you are my knight in shining armour. You were right, it´s incredibly specific. You have to watch the white light above the power button and be plugged in into a socket. Nobody else mentioned the little white light, I was close to believe my tablet was defect.

I got to the Android selecting via the volume up/down page- but when I press the power button to select factory reset nothing happens.

Yes. I had to try it about 10 times before it entered the "Rescue Mode". Don't opt for the rescue mode. You don't care about saving anything at this point. Press-"Skip". And it will go to full restore. Be patient. But the split second of both bottoms was hard.

It is similar to the hard reset of vaio laptops. That is, turning on and immediately pressing F-10 rapidly. It enters hard restore mode. But the tablet uses the pwr and + volume buttons together. Keep trying. My tablet works Fine now.
Make sure you're connected to power.
I know this is a long time ago, however just tried to start my xperia tablet as thought it was dead. Power and volume up button at same time ( charging led flashes twice) then I press power again and the white led lights up for about 1-2 seconds, I then press the up volume but no matter how long I hold the button down for there is nothing from the screen. Even if I keep pressing volume up button whilst pressing power again to get the white led, nothing happens.

no avanza de la parte del logo de sony y cuando intento hacer el hard reste con los botones hago lo mismo de presionar el encendido y el de vol+ ala ves y cuando sale el logo de sony lo suelto pero no entra al sistema y no avanza y nos que hacer ayuda
