Mineral buildup can occur when the water tank cap is not loosened before storing or if the tank is not drained. In these situations the cap can become stuck inside the tank. When this occurs, the cap is often lost or misplaced, which leads to a replacement.

-
Turn off the Steam Pocket Mop and unplug it from the wall.
-
-
-
-
Remove the water tank cap from the water tank reservoir.
-
Turn the cap towards the upward position.
-
Rotate counter-clockwise until it loosens.

hola a mi trapeador shark lift away no le sale vapor y es nuevo tendra algun defecto?
Any updates on getting this part
I have the same problem. The lady whom I spoke today told me to go on Amazon. They do not have these on Amazon. You can still buy the replacements pads for this model. This is really bad and I will be writing to Shark Head Office to say that they should have at least continued suppling the replacements parts as wells as the accessories. If we are all finding the same problems with the knob breaking then this is a manufacturing defect. Having to throw away a completely good steam cleaner just be cause of the knob. This is terrible Shart
I too have the same issue. I need only the tank cap for the model# S3101 N3 11 Steam mop. Any information on getting one would be appreciated.
I also need a replacement water tank cap. Called Shark Co directly and said model S3901 was discontinued. Oh great… mop work great if I can keep chipped cap from falling out and leaking water. Looked all over internet, anyone have a suggestion? Guess Shark want their machines to be disposable.
yea i was told today I can no longer get a replacement water cap for my Shark SC3901W as its been discontinued for a few years and when i asked if there was any other model that would work in its place they simply said i should invest in a new steam cleaner, So if anyone knows where I can get a new Cap or even a Fix for mine i would be greatful, mine basically melted over time and no longer fits tightly my email is catsgrafix@gmail.com
I have the same problem with the mop S3973D. Any advice?
Has anyone found a cap? Where? I called the company and they do not have any.
I live in the UK managed to get a cap eventually through ebay, this took forever though, only to find it will now not steam with mop or attachments. Tried everything recommended to no avail at a dead end.
I took a champagne cork and carefully filed down at an angle and notched out those 2 sections as best as I could til it fit. I've been using mine this way over 2 years now with the same cork and it works great! Just remember to pull the cork straight out. (I used a champagne cork because that's all I had but the big head on it makes it easy to take out and stops it from getting sucked in but I imagine any cork would work.) I hope someone can find this useful.
