Insert the end of a spudger or opening tool in the seam at the top of the controller.

Slide it around the edge to release the retaining clips.

Use the spudger to separate the front and back plastic outer shell of the controller.

Flip the controller so the bottom is facing up.

Use the spudger to separate the plastic covering on the hand grips.

Use a JIS #0 screwdriver to remove ten 10 mm screws from the mid-frame.

Use your hands to pry the back panel of the controller.

You now have access to the back buttons (2 on each side).

Remove the two JIS #0 scews securing the battery.

Lift the actuators out of the way to access the screws beneath.

Use a Phillips #0 screwdriver to remove the two 6.9 mm screws under the voice coil actuators.

Remove the face cover from the controller.

Flip the front of the outer shell toward you. The old buttons should fall out, but if they remain in place, push them out.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order. Take your e-waste to an R2 or e-Stewards certified recycler.
