The antenna is a vital piece of hardware in the Motorola Nextel i880. It is used to send and receive data submitted between this phone and other devices. Replacing the antenna is a simple process that does not have any special requirements other than acquiring the device's part.
Holding the antenna while in use increases power usage and damages the phone, so further damage can be prevented by avoiding holding the antenna.
Before you begin this repair, make sure that your phone is powered off and unplugged from the charger.

Remove back cover of the phone by disengaging the clip and lifting up on the cover.

Locate the screw on the top left portion of the phone; just below the antenna. Using a T4 Torx screwdriver remove the screw.

Slide and secure new antenna into position. Make sure metal receiver is facing forward.

Reattach back cover and secure all components in place.
