To open the battery pack you need to remove the 4 screws on the bottom of the unit.
-
-
-
Flip the battery pack and remove the cap covering one of the for screw.
-
Use a pointed object (such as the iFixit P2 screwdriver) to remove the cap by sticking it in the middle of the cap and lifting out. Trying to grab the edge of the cap is much more difficult.

-
Remove the 4 screws using a TR10 Torx Security Screwdriver.
-
-
-
Using a utility knife, peel off the top half of the label covering the charge indicator lights (or you can cut the label in half).
-
-
-
Note the board part number: 280487 revision Q.
-
-
-
Use a piece of insulated wire with the ends stripped to create a short between the two terminals indicated in the picture.
-
After a few seconds the 4 lights will turn on: the battery pack is now reset.

This guide saved my one+ 18v battery because I looked for the RST pins and shorted them for ~5 seconds to reset my battery. THANK YOU
Any idea on how to reset an OP40404? The board is different. There are terminal holes in the board near the LEDs. There are two sets of terminal holes labeled GND, 3.3V, RES. There are other terminal holes but I'm guessing these are the necessary ones. I've tried jumping RES to RES, and each RES to each of the GNDs. No luck.
If I short press the button, all the lights will blink 6 times. If I long press, all the lights will come on, then the first two will come on, then only the first one will come on and blink 3 times.
