If the battery is running low or does not work any more, use this guide to replace it.
For your safety, discharge your battery below 25% before disassembling your device. This reduces the risk of a dangerous thermal event if the battery is accidentally damaged during the repair. If your battery is swollen, take appropriate precautions.

With the screen face down, lift up the stand as far as it goes.

Use a T5 driver to remove the six screws on the back of the tablet.
Torx T5 screwdriver
Mine were also Torx T5 screws.
Thanks for the T5 info!

After removing the screws, delicately close the stand.

Flip the tablet on its back so that the screen is facing up.

Use the suction cup to carefully separate the screen from the device. Pull upwards with a fluid and smooth motion.
Start with the suction cup centered on the edge (not on the right, as shown). The clips in the side corers of the screen are tighter than the center clips. As the screen bows out in the middle, the side clips easily disengage.
To open the system the way it is shown in step 5, the system must be turned around. The HP logo must be in the back and the camera in the front. If you open on the HP logo end, you risk damaging the screen cable.

Remove the tape on the lower left side of the screen.
-
Underneath the tape, disconnect the LCM cable, the larger wire that was underneath the tape, from the back of the tablet screen.
It is possible to replace the battery without performing steps 5 and 6. It requires someone or something to hold the screen upright while you work on the battery. Just make sure that the screen doesn't fall.

Disconnect the flex cable from the device using the spudger.
-
Remove the Display Assembly from the device.

Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the seven screws holding the battery in place.

Disconnect the red, white, and black wires and remove the battery from the device.

Thanks a lot for the information!
Thanks for the help. Successfully change my battery.
One problem that people might run into is the device not recognizing the battery firmware if it is an aftermarket battery and not a genuine HP one. Where the device will work but only if it is plugged into the charger. It even shows the battery charging but very slowly. If you disconnect the charger the device will instantly shut off. What is the fix for that?
Why must the flex cable be disconnected? If you are able to secure the screen in proper position it does not appear that it would interfere with the battery change.
Na vervanging batterij aangesloten op charger, witte led knippert enkele malen en gaat dan uit. De batterij indicator in windows geeft niet aan dat er geladen wordt. Wat zou de oorzaak kunnen zijn?
