The control dial on the canon EOS A2 lies underneath the top cover of the device. The front cover must also be removed in order to access this.

I have the problem that I cannot turn the camera on because the rotary switch turns freely, therefor I cannot open the flash to get to the screw that needs to be removed in order to fix the rotary switch. In the rotary switch photo you suggest using a pencil to turn it but in the photo the cap of the switch is removed. How do you remove this cap? I have tried prying it off but no success.

Could anybody explain how this spring and ball are placed inside ?

Is it safe to do this procedure while a film is inside the camera?
I was wondering if anyone could help me were I could possibly get the new parts?
I've looked around but found nothing relevant so far.
Thanks in advance,
Agoston Horanyi
Did you find the parts ? If no go to eBay.

I'm wondering if there is someone who can fix the mode selector for a reasonable price
How can I open the flash to get to the screw that needs to be removed in order to fix the rotary dial when the rotary dial is moving freely and the camera does not turn on?
You must insert the battery into the camera, turn it on, then press the flash button to open it. Be sure to remove the battery afterward!
i had the same issue (control dial was locked up when i got it), and to be honest i just kinda pulled it up 😳 it felt a little wrong but it didnt break anything and the camera works like a charm now :-D

Hello, can someone tell me the exact position of the detent ball in step 16? Thanks
Yes, my issue also. Plus where does that mini spring go upon assembly? Would be very grateful for a detailed reply. Thx in advance
