Where can i order battery replacement
Found the battery on AliExpress and bought it Sept of 2018. Its an exact match! Label and all. Made by Hixon:
Hixon New 7.4V 4400mAh Replacement Battery for BRAVEN 850 Speaker-UL UN Certified
Price: US $36.99
Replacement for: BRAVEN 850, J177/ICR18650-22PM
It was shipped from SoCal too.
Hello could you please share the link to the battery?
I cannot find it
Thanks!
Also, to replace just the battery, you don’t need to take off the side port or front cover plate. And you don’t need to remove the whole rubber case cover. Just follow the instructions for the back side panel removal only. Peel the rubber case cover from around the edges of rear face plate so plate can be removed. Becarful with rubber case cover while pulling on it as if rubber is old, it may tear at the corners.
Reverse these steps for reassembly.
Note: my rubber case cover wasn’t glued on from the factory nor did I apply glue on reassembly, I don’t plan on dropping it in the water.
Thanks for confirming this. I was wondering this exact thing while looking at the guide.
Here is link to battery on aliexpress.
Agreed that you don’t need to take off the side or front cover but it’s easy. Only tricky bit was getting out the deep phillips head screws.
Battery seems to be made from 4 18650 cells so you could probably save in more money by taking the pack apart and rebuilding it.
Well detailed guide to replacing battery. Five stars. Andy
Worked perfectly. This was a lifesaver as it kept the trusty speaker to keep on going! Thank you!
Battery Replacement for Braven 850 J177 ICR18650-22PM on Amazon, $27 free shipping
Roger, yes, rebuilding your own pack is probably the way to go. That way you can choose thew quality/price of your batteries. I did see 4 pack 18650 already soldered together on eBay for $17, free shipping, just need to remove over-charge protector from old battery pack and install to new one. Thank you for the ideas!
Excellent tutorial. At first glance I thought “no way”….but bought the battery, followed the tutorial and “BAM” done…..old speaker working like new! Thank you!!
Wow I followed your directions to the set instructions, hesitant at first I soldered on and I did it, thank you so much I would hate to think how much that would of cost me in the shop, again thank you all the way from New Zealand Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year.
Yellow wire of batt pack use for what ? Thanks
Pack is built as 2 paralleled 2200ma cells that are then tied in series for 3.7 +3.7=7.4 @ 4400ma.
With Red as =7.4 + terminal and Black as - terminal . . .logical then that Yellow is probably connection to their center points.
