Disconnect the battery from the motherboard.
so where do i purchase the replacement parts from? i can not find anything on altec lansing site for replacement parts…
Look at the blue shrink wrap it says 18650 you can find those in any vape shop - amazon rip open a tesla pack worth 10k and steal one. Worth usually 5$ to 25$ depending on branding MAH comapacity and discharge rate - 2200 mah sounds like a rather $@$*!& 18650 but i don’t know a ton about them - If it were me i’d just solder the wires onto the terminals (careful this can cause bad things to happen like boom bad) probably would be smarter get a fancy abs holder for the battery leave it in case or could even use longer wires and have the battery hot swappable.

Where can you get the batteries? Altec Lansing doesn’t carry them.
Search for MCR18650 battery. They are available.
Hickisch, I appreciate your guide on replacing this battery, but I beg to differ that replacement batteries are “available.” I keep getting sent batteries with 3-wire connectors instead of 2-wire. Plz send me a link, plz. Gracias.
Sounds like you need to find another source instead of aliexpress or ebay. Digikey has them with the correct 2 wire connection. It's just a standard 18650 battery with the wires spot welded to the positive and negative terminals. Anything with a 3rd wire is likely meant as a charge sensing wire for a batter that has on board circuitry.
for the mini life jacket 3, the motherboard is upside down so you need to remove it to unplug the battery.
For the mini life jacket 3 can you send what link you had for the battery?
Does anyone know where to purchase these batteries from< I am only able to find MCR 18650 with 3 wires, not 2
I believe I found it. It is an ICR18650 not MCR. Just ordered it so we will see. Looks like the one in the photos above though.

Update, battery was not correct and neither was connection. Battery was too big and was 2 put together. My husband does electrical work though and separated them and spliced the old connector onto it and my speaker is now working. Not sure how long it will hold a charge though as I am now only at 1500mah using only one battery.
