If your 8BitDo Pro 2 controller D-Pad is unresponsive or not registering inputs correctly, the D-Pad may need to be replaced. This guide will walk you through removing and installing the D-Pad on your controller.
The D-Pad is responsible for directional movement and input control during gameplay. Over time, wear and tear can affect the performance and responsiveness.
Before using this guide, try cleaning around the D-Pad to ensure proper function. You should also test the controller on different devices to ensure it is in the correct input see the troubleshooting page for more information.
This guide will require you to open the controller. Before beginning, make sure to power the controller off.

Flip the 8BitDo Pro 2 controller so that the back side is facing up.

Slide the battery cover off to remove it and expose the battery.

Use your hands to remove the battery pack from the controller.

Using the iFixit blunt tweezers, peel back the top two corners of the sticker located inside the battery compartment.

Use a T6 Torx screwdriver to remove the four 5.0 mm screws from the back of the controller.

Insert the iFixit pick into the seam along the edge of the controller and slide it around to release the clips holding it together.

Use an iFixit tool to carefully pry around the edges of the controller.

Once loosened, gently separate the top and bottom of the controller.

Use a spudger to gently push up on alternating sides of the black plastic tab until it clicks up into its unlocked position.

Use tweezers to gently pull the cable out of its socket.

Separate the top and bottom casing of the controller.

Remove the six, 10.0 mm Phillips #00 screws along the edge of the main board.

Remove the 5.0 mm Phillips #00 screw towards the center of the board.

Pull the main board from the top case to remove it.

Gently pull the conductive rubber cover off the D-pad.

Push the D-Pad out of the top case to remove it.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order. Take your e-waste to an R2 or e-Stewards certified recycler.
