Ryobi P517 Repair

The Ryobi P517 18V ONE+ is a brushless reciprocating saw. The device was released on December 7, 2017 by Ryobi and has since been discontinued. The P517 succeeded the Ryobi P514 with a faster cutting speed and a new, quick-change system for blade replacement. The saw is intended for cutting wood, masonite, plastic, drywall, and metals. Generally, the P517 sells for around $200 per unit.

The device was met with mostly positive reviews. Most praise was directed towards its low weight and the convenience of an attached battery. However, many consumers complain of component failures with the blade clamp and trigger, along with issues with the saw itself, such as overheating, smoking, and a short lifespan.

The Ryobi P517 was succeeded by the Ryobi P519 on December 23, 2020. The newer model improved the P517 with a faster blade speed and greater cutting efficiency.

The Ryobi P517 only comes in one color scheme: lime green and gray. The Ryobi P517 is a bit bigger and lighter than the Ryobi P514.
