The Lenovo ThinkPad T540p was sold internationally and was advertised towards corporations as the go-to business laptop. The base model of the Lenovo ThinkPad T540p was sold at $1,280 and ranged to about $2,624, depending on the configuration the user decided to purchase. Some malfunctions that are common with the Lenovo ThinkPad T540p are with the trackpad, screen hinges, and random system freezes. The Lenovo ThinkPad T540p was a continuation of the T430 design language but included a numeric keypad and a new rendition of the UltraBay. Most customers complained that the Lenovo ThinkPad T540p was heavy, had a below-average display, and a poor trackpad design. The successor of the Lenovo ThinkPad T540p was the ThinkPad T550, which had a slimmer build with a lighter design that had better battery life. It was also the start of the W series and had an entry-level professional GPU.
