Background
The Cr-48 Chromebook is the prototype notebook designed by Google and manufactured by Inventec. 60,000 Chromebooks were manufactured not for public sale, but rather were freely given to the participants of the Chrome OS Pilot Program in exchange for testing and feedback on Google's new Chrome OS.
The Cr-48 Chromebook features an Anti-Glare 12.1 in display with a screen resolution of 1200x800 and an aspect ratio of 16:10. This Chromebook runs a 1.66 GHz single-core Intel Atom processor and a 16GB SSD. The dimensions of the Chromebook are 11.8" x 0.9', and it weighs only 3.8 pounds. The interior of the Chromebook has a multi-touch trackpad and a full-size keyboard, which makes computing on this laptop easily accessible.
Chrome OS was created to be used online/web only, so it requires a consistent internet connection to fully function. The Chrome OS is energy efficient and provides users with a long battery life, with a maximum of 8 hours on a charge. Not surprisingly, there are many great things about this notebook, but it also needs several updates.
Identification
The casing of the Cr-48 Chromebook is made of matte black plastic. There are no identifying labels on the front of the screen or keyboard assembly. The bottom of the Chromebook has no identifying marks, but it has a removable battery. The model and serial numbers can be found beneath the battery, printed on a white label.
