Cat s22 flip

The CAT S22 Flip was the first flip phone manufactured under the Bullitt Group Ltd CAT phone series. Bullitt Group Ltd was a British company founded in 2009, producing its first licensed phones under the JCB branding. In 2012, they switched their licensing partner to Caterpillar Inc. and started producing phones under the CAT branding. The CAT S22 Flip phone was the 20th phone released under the CAT phone series.

The defining feature of the S22, compared to its sister devices, is that it is the only flip phone within the line. The company believed that the original flip phone design would appeal to blue-collar workers with its rugged and durable design. It succeeded the CAT S64, a more traditional smartphone. The CAT S22 flip was then succeeded by the S53, a very similar device to the S64. Production has since ceased on all CAT phones, but backup inventory exists for the S22 flip, S64, and S75

Sales numbers have not been published, but the CAT S22 flip ended up being a mostly niche selection. Bullitt Ltd went defunct only 3 years after the release of the phone. Most Cat S22 flips and other CAT phones on market are from 3rd party sellers with backup inventory. With Bullitt Ltd defunct, Caterpillar Inc. has licensed its branding out to Orbics for a new line of rugged phones.

The CAT S22 is a bulky flip phone with a uniform black profile with a metallic orange power button. The phone has 2 screens: a primary touch screen on the interior and a secondary display screen on the exterior. The phone has a traditional T9 keypad layout, with 3 additional buttons for Android compatibility. The back plate is held in place by a large metallic screw, and at the bottom of the back plate there is a set of pogo pins.
